News - Delayed final update for the S21 series, eSIM and S20 + Note20 betas

On Monday, Samsung Canada posted an announcement telling us that the final One UI 4 release would only hit the S21 series on December 6th, two weeks later than previously expected. More than that, they also announced that we would finally be able to access the eSIM hidden inside our phones! I posted earlier this year exactly about this but with this change, a new chapter opens for us, with native Dual-SIM capabilities now widely available from the biggest Android OEM in Canada.

If you were using an iPhone, you already had access to this feature since 2018 and the iPhone XR/XS lineup. It only took that long for Samsung Canada to switch a boolean's value...

Samsung Canada also teased an update to their Tizen watches, including SpO2 support for Canada, better calorie consumption tracking during exercises and fall detection. Oh, and new watch faces.

For the S20 Plus, S20 Ultra and Note20 Ultra, I uploaded the firmware files I could find over my extremely busy weekend. I'm sorry it couldn't be done earlier but I have more and more work ahead of me for classes, and not particularly interesting work at that. It's draining all my energy and prevents me from getting anything done. Enough about that, all happy S20+/U and Note20U owners can now head to the One UI Beta page and follow their guide.

And now, I have a request for those that followed my guide. If you could fill out this feedback form, it would be of great help to me. I will be able to use your feedback to improve the guide. This is a very short survey that should take no more than five minutes to complete.

Thanks to everyone who followed my guide, I hope it lived up to your expectations and that there will be many people following it next year, in an improved form with more timely updates as time allows it.
